Tangier, Where Two Seas Meet
Facing Spain across the Strait of Gibraltar, Tangier mixes Mediterranean light, an old kasbah and a long story of artists and writers.
About Tangier
Discover Tangier
Tangier sits where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, only 14 km from Europe. For centuries it was a meeting point of cultures, and in the 20th century it became a magnet for painters, poets and writers such as Matisse, Paul Bowles and the Beat Generation.
Today the white medina climbs up to the kasbah, cafés look out over the Strait, and a modern seafront stretches along the bay.
Tangier is the natural start for our northern routes – to Chefchaouen, the Blue City, then on to Fes, the Sahara and Marrakech.
